ADHD
What is it?
ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood. It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often lasts into adulthood. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviours (may act without thinking about what the result will be), or be overly active.
Three types of ADHD
Please see a brief explanation of the three types of ADHD that we see among teens, young adults and children.
Combined type
This, the most common type of ADHD, is characterized by impulsive and hyperactive behaviours as well as inattention and distractibility.
Impulsive type
This, the least common type of ADHD, is characterized by impulsive and hyperactive behaviours without inattention and distractibility.
Inattentive type
This type of ADHD is characterized predominately by inattention and distractibility without hyperactivity.
